Am here to share my views of my birth place chinnamanur !! Its in theni district !!
I love to spend time there cuz even in month of april and may it won't be hot there .Especially love spending time in my grandparent's home( my mom's hometown).
Wow !! Every year (from my birth till now) wen i go there something new impress me.I born in chinnamanur but did my schooling and higher education and spending more times of my life in chennai.Very special place for me in chinnamanur, is Periya kovil.Why did i feel special ? As the name insists the temple will be big.It takes hardly half an hour to go around the temple apart from prayers.The most amazing thing of the temple is that statue of this temple portrays itself to the height of the devotee. If a child stands in front of this statue it looks to be the same to the height of the child and if and older/tall person stands in front of it changes accordingly.In the tamil movie GOA; the title song is taken in this temple only.
Periya kovil
Another famous temple around chinnamanur is kuchanur temple.Kuchanur is 30 kms from Theni.Though there is a shrine for Saturn in almost all temples, Kuchanur temple is exclusively for Sani Baghwan next to Thirunallar. Moreover, He exists of himself.A Shivalinga was growing upwards here and the growth was controlled by applying turmeric on the Linga. A very sacred place for relief from the adverse effects of Saturn. A large number of devotees visit Kuchanur to worship Sani Baghwan from Northern states too.
The next tourist place is Suruli Falls which falls from a height of 150 feet gathers into a pool, flows for a short distance and again plummets to a depth of 40 feet, offering a spectacular sight of nature's raw and wild beauty. The dense forest that surround it provide an awesome backdrop. The special feature of the fall is that it is "a round the year" fall. However, the best season to visit is June - October, when the thickness of the water column is astounding.
A well kown tourist spot near by chinnamanur is Kodaikanal. One of the best place to spend our summer vacation.Few popular places over there is Bryant Park, Coaker's Walk,Green Valley View, Shembaganur Museum of Natural History.The moment when i think about kodaikanal the first thing comes to my mind is Guna Caves. These dangerous caves are highly protected now, and tourists can see sections of the cave system from afar.
Now lemme tell something about my family members (strictly no boring):
My Grandpa Mr.MangalaSubramani Iyer (Head of family).The most exciting thing about him is he won't be using specs to read ; Even in the age of 83 ,very sharp eyes.I admire him a lot for this.
My Grandma Mrs.Balambal .She likes helping others.Popular person of chinnamanur.
My mom Mrs.Sudha Ramani The best thing in my mom is her courage and braveness.In late 80's in her family she is the only women who took her nurse training staying in hostel .I think this is a great thing in those time.The main difficulty she faced is to convince my grandpa and my mama.She is the first person in her family to get placed in a government job.
My dad Mr.R.VenkataRamani .More than as a father he was like our best friend in most of our situation.My brother's hero is my dad.He admires him a lot.Very jovial person .In our family my dad is the only man who got placed in government job.
My mama Mr.Vishwanathan iyer.He cares for my growth a lot.Eventhough he's strict person he's favourite for all of us.The best thing in him is he haven't took a single day leave since 31 years of his bank job.Very sincere in his work.
My mami Mrs.HemaVishwanathan the most energetic person . She cooks very well.My favourite dish of her's is rasam.She is one of my best friend.
Mr and Mrs.Gomathi Karthikeyan very affectionate chithi chithapa.Every time we go to periakulam he receives us as if that is our first visit.If i wish anything he immediately fullfill it.my chithi very soft-natured women.
Mr.& Mrs.Karpagam Ravichandran chithi and chithapa encourages me in all things .The first wish will be from them only.For ravi chithapa no sunday's in his business.24/7 days of work but still he will be affectionate with family.
